Dale Hooper – Principal

Dale started his career with a leading North Queensland law firm where he practised in the areas of property, conveyancing, litigation, family law and employment law. He then followed a family tradition by joining the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). As a lawyer in the RAAF, Dale advised all around the world in the areas of employment law, administrative law, discipline tribunals, wills and commercial law.

Dale has settled in the Greater Springfield area and still serves as a RAAF Reserve Legal Officer. He remains committed to supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF) by delivering affordable legal support to current ADF members and veterans.

Dale also supports the local Greater Springfield community through various community organizations and projects. Dale’s spare time is spent playing golf, learning Chinese and supporting his son and daughter’s sporting activities.

Amanda Kent – Associate

Amanda has a background in Family and Domestic Violence Law. Prior to commencing employment with Brookwater Legal, Amanda worked as a Law Clerk for 3 ½ years and has practised in Family and Domestic Violence since her admission as a lawyer in June 2015.

Amanda graduated from Bond University with a Juris Doctor of Laws and is admitted to both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Amanda has significant experience in representing clients in Family and Domestic Violence proceedings.

Amanda provides timely and accurate advice, representing clients across all aspects of family law. She strongly believes in the right to obtain legal representation and regularly volunteers with Caxton Legal. Amanda has represented clients on a range of Family Law matters, including those seeking parenting orders, relocation orders, recovery orders, change of residence, schooling orders and property orders. She has experience in domestic violence proceedings and has represented both the aggrieved and respondent.

Amanda regularly appears before State and Federal Courts of Australia. She has recently appeared in the Family Court of Western Australia and the Federal Circuit Court (New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania).

Amanda is a dedicated and compassionate family lawyer, providing her clients with detailed advice and advocating strongly on their behalf.

Amanda has also completed a Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution Practice and is a qualified Family Law Mediator. Amanda is currently studying her Master of Laws, majoring in Family Law.

Amanda also holds a Bachelor of Health Science. Prior to working in the legal industry, she was employed by Queensland Ambulance as a Paramedic. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family. She is a mother of two and a stepmother of three.

Christie Hooper – Office Manager

Christie grew up in Canada. While studying languages and linguistics at university, she was hired by Air Canada as an international flight attendant, which she did for a few years before moving into the operations side of the company. This lead to her arrival in Brisbane where she completed a Master’s degree in Aviation Management. Having fallen in love with the country (and a particular law student) she gave Canada the flick and immigrated.

Since then she has worked in various positions including managing a travel agency, working as a TAFE teacher and more recently worked for the Department of Defence in contract management, logistics and auditing. Christie’s broad range of management skills and experience are an asset to the operation of the firm.

Jess Avenell – Paralegal

Jess joined the Brookwater Legal team in February 2017 and comes with a strong background in conveyancing, property and customer service.

Jess has extensive experience in all types of property conveyancing. She came to Brookwater Legal from a Top Tier firm where she was responsible for complex property conveyancing files, including heavy involvement in Retirement Village conveyancing.

Along with the knowledge required to help you through every step of the conveyancing process, whether it be buying or selling, Jess prides herself on excellent customer service. She will always ensure our clients receive all the help and assistance they need to finalise their matter as smoothly as possible.

Shannon O’Connor – Family Law Clerk

Shannon is in her final year of a Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University with an expected completion date of June 2019. Shannon has also previously completed a Diploma of Justice Studies. Shannon’s interests and passions are family law and domestic violence and once she graduates, she is keen to practice in these areas of law. Shannon is compassionate and personable, making her very approachable during what can be an extremely difficult time for clients.

Tiela Morrison  – Family Law Clerk

Tiela is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University and is due to graduate in June 2019. She grew up in the rural community of Warwick, and moved to Brisbane in 2016 to pursue a career in law. Tiela has since developed a strong interest in family law and wishes to practise in the area in the future.

Suvradip Maitra – Commercial Law Clerk

Suvradip is currently in his 4th year completing a Bachelors of Science/Laws (Honours) at the University of Queensland. Suvradip moved to Australia with his family in 2008 and carried over a keen interest in cricket from his childhood in India. His fluency in Bengali and Hindi will enable him to assist you in your language of choice.
